Through the Eyes

Patricia Agold

I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Industrial Distribution and a minor in Business Administration in December 2006.  My story with CED begins with the career center at A&M my last semester.   I signed up for an interview not really knowing much about the company, but liking what I had seen.  The more I learned the more I knew that this is what I wanted to do.  The fact that this program would get you through all the different parts of the business to prepare you for management in such a short period of time was unparalleled by any other company that I had interviewed with, and exactly what I was looking for.  The practice of Profit Sharing that is so integral to CED's core culture was also one of the key aspects that drew me in.  Being a manager in CED is like owning your own business without all the financial risk or hassles of excess paperwork (this gets done in the credit offices or service centers.)

In January 2007 I started with CED in San Antonio, Texas.  I completed the warehouse and counter phases of my training, and then moved into the office learning everything that goes on “behind the scenes” and working in inside sales.  I then worked with a new manager to start up a new profit center on the North West side of San Antonio.  Once that PC opened I moved to Austin, Texas to start my outside sales and develop a territory that will hopefully turn into a North Austin profit center that I will manage.

I have had the opportunity to visit as well as spend significant time at other profit centers in my area.  I frequently go on trips with my Division Manager to see other PCs or go to credit meetings.  The manufacturer schools that we go on are not only educational but fun as well.  It's a good time to converse with your fellow trainees from around the nation and toss around ideas of how to do this or why we do that.  The study course (EPEC) that we are required to complete is very beneficial to furthering knowledge about the electrical industry and the products in it.
