I graduated from Thiel College in Northern Pennsylvania with a double major in Business Management and Accounting in May of 2005. I joined the CED team that June as a Manager Trainee. After completing the first few stages of my training (warehouse, counter, purchasing, inside sales) in Fairmont, West Virginia I prepared for a major change in my life. I got married. This created a slight problem in my career because my wife already had a good job in Pittsburgh (two hours from Fairmont), but CED was very accommodating. Ultimately, we decided the best solution was to move me to the Greensburg PC (40 short minutes from Pittsburgh) to finish my training. As it turned out, this solution fit both CED and I perfectly. Greensburg was in need of an outside salesman, I was entering into that stage of the training and it made it possible for my wife to stay at her job.
I became Profit Center Manager of the CED location in Utica, NY, in June of 2007, and it is obvious how useful my training has been. My knowledge of the operations and paperwork flow in a PC have helped me make subtle improvements that will save my PC money and ultimately put more money into our Profit Sharing. It still amazes me that at 24 years old I am responsible for a multi-million dollar business and have 4 employees.
A few things that I love about CED and the job I’m in now are how family oriented the company is, how much freedom CED gives you as a manager to run your PC however you think is best, and how you can really control how much money you make because of the Profit Sharing model.
I would recommend a career with CED to anyone interested in sales. In fact, I have already recruited my roommate from college who is now training in Fairmont, and I am in the process of recruiting one of my groomsmen to join CED as well.
